Kelly Lofberg has more than 17 years’ experience working in the fields of stakeholder engagement, media and communication, government relations.
She has significant experience managing communication and engagement activities across sectors. Kelly specialises in strategic support to complex and contentious projects and issues. Her work spans politics, mining, infrastructure, business, media and development. She develops strategies to support various environmental approvals right through to construction and commissioning of major projects.
She has a thorough understand of all levels of government and has a strong background in advocating for policy change in both the public and private sectors, across industries and states.
Kelly managed a team of consultants delivering all communication and engagement activities through the construction of the Newcastle Light Rail project. This high profile infrastructure project in the inner-city of Newcastle will see the construction of 2.7km of light rail connecting with the Newcastle Interchange (Wickham Transport Interchange Project.
Kelly was appointed as the communication and stakeholder engagement manager through the construction of the Newcastle Interchange. Kelly effectively managed all government, media and stakeholder enquiries; receiving large amounts of feedback and minimal complaints
throughout the project.
Kelly managed and co-wrote the social impact statement for the expansion of a hospital in Abbortsford, Western Australia. The assessment examined the potential impacts and opportunities for the expanded heath service.
Kelly conducted a series of workshops with senior management to develop a communication and stakeholder engagement strategy for the coal assets business.
Mara was engaged to develop the plans of management and master plans for these two highly visible recreation sites in Maitland. The challenge was to develop recreation facilities along the Hunter River in locations that were prone to flooding. Kelly developed a strategy to engage with stakeholders
and facilitated workshops. Later in the project, Kelly presided over the public hearings for the categorisation of land.
Kelly managed the communication and engagement activities on the Broadmeadow Station Upgrade. Abergeldie Construction upgraded the station to improve access for customers.
Kelly was engaged by NCIG, a coal exporting facility in the Port of Newcastle. Responsible for both internal and external communication and engagement, Kelly provided support across the organisation. Kelly was responsible for developing engagement strategies to meet the organisation’s corporate objectives.
Kelly managed a small team on communication consultants on the Newcastle bypass between Jesmond to Rankin Park. Kelly was responsible for providing regular and proactive communication about the project to all stakeholders. She also was responsible for ensuring her constituents were
well informed about the project and provided sufficient opportunities for public participation.
Kelly was engaged to facilitate a stakeholder engagement workshop with users of White Park, a large multi-user equestrian park in Scone. The project was to identify was to develop the site and make recommendations on how to program the master plan. This is a Mara Consulting Project.
