Thank you for your great ideas for Nobbys Headland. The expressions of interest process for future operators is now complete.
Nobbys Headland is one of Newcastle’s best vantage points with 360-degree views of the city, working harbour and Newcastle’s stunning coastline. It has been an active lighthouse for over 150 years and continues to safely direct ships in and out of Newcastle harbour. The site is an iconic and much-loved Newcastle landmark. There is significant interest in ongoing public access and future use of the buildings onsite.
Expressions of interest
Port Authority of New South Wales engaged Mara Consulting to develop the Nobbys Headland Future Use Communication and Engagement Strategy to guide communications and consultation activities related to the future use of Nobbys Headland.
Nobbys is an iconic Newcastle landmark, with significant community, tourism and political interest.
The project occurred in two phases:
- Engaging with stakeholders and community members to seek their input into the possible future uses of Nobbys. Consultation included on site sessions, an online ideas wall and survey as well as and face to face meetings with key stakeholders. This was supported by a comprehensive traditional and social media campaign. The data gathered through the consultation process was then provided to Port Authority of New South Wales to inform the expressions of interest documentation.
- Promotion of the expression of interest process to ensure there was broad awareness that the process was underway including media management throughout the process. The EOI was a competitive process to identify one or more preferred options for future use of the site.
