Upper Hunter Shire Council engaged Mara to prepare detailed landscape plans for the central business district (CBD) redevelopment of Scone, NSW. The purpose of the project was to revitalise the CBD landscape of Scone by implementing the Master plan that was adopted by Council in 2016.
The detailed landscape plans and documents have identified opportunities to improve the visual amenity of the Scone CBD incorporating the streetscape, public art, landscaping and street furniture identified in the Master plan. The landscape plans also address movement (pedestrian, cycles and vehicles) in and around the CBD.
As part of the scope of work Mara carefully considered the lines of sight though the CBD; sustainable design; crime prevention and the relationship of adjoining developments to the CBD. Traffic movement and parking, as well as intersection treatments were also carefully.
